Hello city, it's your friendly neighborhood Spider-Girl here with a question for you all!

[May slapped her hands rapidly on her thighs as a sort of drum roll.]

What charities do you know of in the city that could use some help this time of year? Are there even charities? How big is the disenfranchised community here?

So that's more like three questions and I realize I should have been worrying about this stuff before now but... I wasn't. But I want to do more for people here and clearly the city doesn't need superheroes quite as much as what I'm used to. So, switching over to focusing on social justice a bit more instead of "punch people in the face and web them up" justice.

Y'know, come to think of it? I haven't noticed a single homeless shelter or secondhand store or anything.

It’s a little bothersome. I mean... maybe it’s because they have such a great social safety net?

I really wanna be like "Yeah that sounds accurate." But...it is just a bit odd.

I mean, this place has everything else that NYC had. Crime. People telling you to stay out of the park at night.

...no litter. This place seems vaguely...idealized? I don't think that's quite the word I want.

It feels like a video game that’s missing a few details. You know like... yeah you can smash a bench or something but you can’t pick up trash?

I don’t know if that makes sense or not. It makes me feel like someone or something is making this world.

I have spend way too much time laying awake at night wondering if this is like... a sentient reality.

...Huh. Now that you mention, I don't think I've seen anything like that around here. No charities, no shelters, no soup kitchens, no donation centers. Nothing.

Right? Isn’t that more than a little suspicious?

Or maybe just odd, I might be a tad paranoid finding that suspicious but old habits and all that.

I mean, the fact that there's no trash on the streets is odd. No shelters or places to donate anything is a little suspicious. It's like this place is trying too hard to show that there's nothing wrong around here.

Right? Nothing wrong makes me really suspicious that a whole lot is wrong!

For sure. It's like all those stories about dystopian authoritarian societies, where everything seems perfect on the outside but something really bad is hiding underneath.

Man I wish Hobie was here. We so need a Spider-Punk right now.

Spider-Punk? What's he like?

Oh he's awesome! His mask has these like... spikes on top and he has this jean jacket with all the patches and he plays the guitar. He's just really awesome, I like him.

Sounds like a fun guy. You, uh...know a lot of Spider-people?

I know OF maybe a hundred? But I only know a few dozen or so of them well.

Seriously? Wow, there's a lot more than I thought. I guess it's true what they say about endless possibilities, huh?

Yeah, it’s really crazy. Some are very similar and some are really different.

I have. For a while I was part of a team that went around to different realities helping people and fixing timelines and stuff.

Seriously? That's pretty cool. This is my first time in a different reality, but I have a few friends from other worlds.

Oh yeah? Which friends?

Uh, just a few. Spider-Girl, a different Spider-Man, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Pig...

Doesn't mean we cannot do something ourselves though and find a cause we think might need it.
