Video - Bruce, Adam, and Evie
[Gansey shifts against a pillow, the room décor around him hinting that he's not at the Barns. He winces and the image wobbles to the side of the bed. In a chair next to him, Ronan sleeps, or as close to sleep as he ever gets while somewhere that isn't home.
As he rights the device, a few bruises and cuts can be seen. All looking bluish instead of the expected warmer colors of bruises and cuts. Letting out a careful sigh, he runs a hand through his hair, looking chagrined.]
Ronan and I did something stupid, but we'll both be okay.
(ooc: Please specify if you want to talk to Gansey or Ronan.)

[video] - Gansey
What did you do? [He expected stupid things from Ronan, but Gansey was supposed to be smarter than that. Except in certain circumstances.] Where are you?
[It sounds so simple. Too simple. Perhaps he should have thought things through better.]
Ronan dreamed up something to make him invisible. We got separated...
[He shrugs, wincing when bruises remind him that he'd gotten thrown around by - whatever is out there - like he was a sack of laundry]
He's fine. Whatever is out there thinks Ganseys are more interesting than Lynches.
I'm worried about you, too. Why didn't you tell me you were going to do this?
[Adam would have gone with them, even if it was dangerous. Especially if it was dangerous.]
[Why would Adam worry about him? Realizing that was a thought based on the past, not their current situation, he tries, and fails, to hide his confusion.]
We thought a smaller party would be better. Ronan in his cloak and me as lookout.
[That isn't quite the truth. A lie would be simple, but it wouldn't help the tenuous changes in their relationships. He rubs at a cut on his arm, wincing at the ache that accompanies the motion.]
We didn't want to bother you. Unless I was immersed in the search, I always felt guilty taking what little free time you had. I didn't think I should drag you into our mad scheme.
[He sighed, exhasperated.]
Because I'm completely bothered when the people I care about tell me about their plans to do something that might get them killed.
[He felt a little left out, like a third wheel, and he did his best to squash down that feeling, but...]
[His voice trails off as he realizes that this isn't going to help the situation. If anything, it's going to make Adam angry. Maybe sharing more details of his injuries will work as a distraction? He rolls up his sleeve, picking at a bandage until it's pulled down enough to show the blue skin beneath.]
We thought we could handle it. Ronan had his invisibility cloak and I was lookout. It seemed normal.
[Wait... that's not right. They should have included Adam. Going alone or with a partner was something from another life.]
I think my memories may have gotten mixed up with the other Gansey's. I keep doing that lately.
[Adam was starting to understand how Gansey might have felt when Adam had sneaked off to awaken the ley line. He still didn't regret it, but he understood.
He squinted at his phone, eyeing the blue skin. That didn't look normal.]
I could have gone with you. I could have helped.
[Helped how, he didn't know; he hadn't been included in the planning of this. It hurt more than he let on, but he'd long since learned how to compartmentalize things that hurt.]
Re: [Video]
Gansey wasn't even suppose to be there. I was suppose to be going alone for a reason. But he caught me and when have you ever been able to say no to his nerd hot excited expression when he's determined to go on a dangerous adventure? Never! Where the fuck are you, Parrish?
[ Please say The Barns or somewhere nearly as safe. ]
[He tries to shove Ronan out of the way, but then his arm collides with Ronan's and he lets out a hiss instead. The nurse had been right about it being like a deep bruise. Scowling at both Ronan's interruption and the injury, he flops back against the pillow.]
You can't go alone in an invisibility cloak. If something happened, we'd never find you.
[Then he realizes what else Ronan had said.]
Nerd hot? I am not nerd hot.
Yeah, where are you, Adam?
[If Ronan hadn't wanted anyone else to go with him, Adam could understand that at least; Ronan was good at getting himself into trouble.]
I'm at the Barns. [You know, where he'd looked and hadn't found them and then had started to worry.
After a pause, he added-] You are nerd hot.
[At least some of them were agreeing about something right now.]
Re: [Video]
[ Ronan scowled at Gansey's injury in silent fury as if he could scare it into healing. They had told them there was nothing they could do, but he'd dreamed an entire car and could give life to his imagination. There had to be something he could dream into existence that would heal Gansey. ]
Parrish agrees with me. Nerd hot.
[ He ducked back in to smirk at Adam. ]
Stay there with the kids tonight and come see us in the morning.
[If he wasn't so tired, his glare would have more impact. Right now it's a half hearted thing, despite the anger that simmers at Ronan's words.]
Since everything's frozen right now, we probably wouldn't find you until spring! If we're even here until spring. We could get zapped into another reality before then and we'd never know what happened to you.
[He's still boggling over nerd hot, but knows not to argue.]
Drill Bit might be upset that I'm gone. There's a blanket at the foot of my bed that she can sleep on. That usually calms her down.
[He shook his head. That was not an image he wanted. Especially not since he'd already seen Ronan die once. He didn't know what he'd do if something happened to Ronan. He hardly knew what to do now that something had happened to Gansey and Gansey was going to be all right.
He took a deep breath.]
All right. I'll take care of the animals.
Re: [Video]
Relax. Both of you. I'm not dead. The bastard didn't want me.
[ The unspoken truth was that he never should have let Gansey come with him. He fucked up and Gansey was hurt. Gansey could have died. So he's perfectly happy with the fact that Adam wasn't there to be mauled and nearly killed along side Gansey. ]
I promise to behave myself if you bring real food. This place has shit to eat.
You are not distracting me that easily. We're going to have a talk about that later.
It didn't want me either or I wouldn't be here.
[But what did it want? Obviously not to kill or he'd be dead.]
Don't fall for it, Parrish. Even if you feed him, he'll still do something reckless.
Re: [Video]
Bring it on. Nothing could be worse than losing Gansey or Adam.
He kissed Gansey's head again and retreated back to his chair, propping his feet up onto the side of the bed. ]
I'm a Lynch. Reckless is our middle name.
[But that wouldn't stop Adam from bringing food, anyway.]
Also, it's easy for you to tell us to relax. [He added sulkily.]
You should get some rest, Gansey.
[Considering the stories Ronan's father had told, 'reckless' probably should have been Ronan's middle name instead.]
There's no reason not to relax. I'm safe indoors. My injurie have been treated. There's no long lasting damage.
[The worst of it was over, so why should they worry about him? Glaring over at Ronan when he settles into the chair, he looks like he's going to protest the move, then thinks better of it.]
If I relax now, we'll lose important details. We need all the information we can gather to help everyone who's investigating this.
Important details like what? What'll you lose by spending a single day in bed?
Re: [Video]
Parrish. You should know better than to ask Gansey to stay in bed. You should be asking him about the details and taking notes. Two of the smartest guys I know, if you can't solve the mystery no one can.
[ And while they work on details Ronan can work on medicine to heal Gansey's wounds. ]
[There had to be something. Some observation that might help them later, or help protect someone else if they ventured out after dark.
Pausing, he considered how to contradict Ronan's assessment, but they all knew that he needed to be active.]
I will stay in bed, but we all know that I won't be able to sleep. At least not for long.
Sorry, I'm not callous. [There wasn't much bite to it though, because Ronan was at least partially right.]
So, what exactly happened? If these things are so dangerous, why didn't it actually kill either of you?
[Were the Unseen not interested in killing people? Was it something more sinister?]
video: both guys pls!
So, Evie sighs. It manages to sound disappointed, don't worry. ]
Do either of you need anything? It's dark out, so I can't really bring anything now. But I can come tomorrow when the suns up.
no subject
He doesn't open his eyes or attempt to invade Gansey's video conversation, simply speaks from his not so comfortable place in the chair by Gansey's side, socked feet propped up on the edge of the bed. ]
A cure for whatever the fuck that thing did to Gansey.
[ He needed to figure things out. He needed to fix Gansey. he needed to keep Adam and Gansey safe. Instead, he nearly lets his boyfriend get killed by a monster. ]
no subject
[ Maleficent was an absolute bitch. ]
I'm trying to find one I can modify, but I don't know much about the Unseen, and don't want to risk making things worse.
no subject
[ Ronan instantly had a thought and got up from his chair, taking Gansey's phone so he could see Evie's face. ]
Do you think those spells would work on the Unseen?
[ If they could stop the Unseen then they could focus on a cure. Maybe the Unseen were the cure. You wanted an antivenom you went straight to the snake who bit you, right? ]
no subject
No, Ronan. You can't ask someone to do that. Whatever you're thinking. No.
[He leans in so that at least part of him will be in the video.]
We can't ask you to do that. We need more information before even thinking about trying anything against the Unseen.
no subject
[ Sorry, Ronan. She sees where you were going with that, agrees whole heartedly with your thinking and assumes the Unseen are the source for both the ice affliction and the cure. But there's far too many risks even for Evie. ]
Hello, Gansey. My offer still stands; can I bring you two anything in the morning? I'd love to help, even if it's just to bring food over so none of you have to focus on cooking for a bit.
no subject
He had his own magic. ]
no subject
We don't even know what it is. I should have been able to see it when it attacked, but I didn't see anything.
We always appreciate food. Maybe we could all get together and brainstorm what we know or don't know about the Unseen and what we know about magic. Different worlds, different magics. Maybe we can figure out what it is, or even what it isn't. That might help us make some progress.
no subject
You just focus on resting, okay?
no subject
Gansey is a planner, a problem solver, an adventurer. He wants the clues, the little scraps of information, the trail to be slightly cold, but not completely lost to him. The search for Glendower was a search for something no one else fully understood. Ronan never knew what Gansey would ask for in the end. All he knew is he would do anything to help Gansey find the lost King.
This was different. This was more a matter of survival for everyone involved.
All Gansey needed was resources. Something with clues so he could piece together the answers. ]
Don't worry. I'll keep him in bed.
no subject
[Somehow his head ends up resting mostly against Ronan and he closes his eyes briefly, relieved that Ronan hadn't been hurt and none of the worst case scenarios they'd discussed with Adam had happened.
He's already trying to sift through information, trying to find some thread to follow, but they don't have enough. Or if they do, it's too jumbled to find which detail to focus on.
This would be so much easier if...]
Evie, how much of our other selves do you think we retained?
no subject
[ She watches Ronan and Gansey and smiles softly, happy to see something like that in such an awful situation. It was nice to see them content with each other and she was just a tiny bit jealous. Just a bit. But she's not showing it. Instead, she tilts her head a bit at his question, lips quirking in a small frown as she thinks about it. ]
You know, I can't say for sure. Why?
