Uh. Hello? To anyone who might be listening to this, my name is Malcolm Bright. I have no idea how I got here, but apparently that's not unusual. After speaking with Jerry and a few of the other travelers... I still have questions. [ Malcolm will always have questions about everything. ] Has anybody been doing this for a long time?

[ He pauses to lift his cup and take a drink of his coffee. ] Oh and thanks to... [ He squints at the cup and then reads off of it. ] Stark..bucks, for at least making a halfway decent cup of coffee. If anyone knows where to find a hard drink, I'd appreciate that information too. Thanks.

It's across town but it shouldn't take too long to get there. If you don't mind riding on the back of a motorcycle, I can even give you a lift.

Yeah...when you showed up here, there were things from home waiting in your apartment, right?

Right. Yes. My parakeet was there, actually.

Your parakeet? Really? [And that was new, that animals could be brought from home.]

I had a few things when I showed up in the last place. This was waiting for me here.

Yep. I was glad to see her. [ He'd be worried that nobody would feed her if she was back home. His mother definitely wasn't going to stop by and take care of her. ]

I found a few other things too... one of my katanas from my weapons collection at home.

[Biggs had never had a pet, but he knew how much Wedge loved his cats. The man could barely stand to be parted from them and he always worried about them.]

Well, I'm glad you have her. It's nice to have something familiar around here.

[He nodded.] Yeah, I had a weapon from home, too. I might be concerned they were trying to tell us something.

[ A slight smile. ] I have a pocket knife too, so I think they are, especially in a place like this.

I heard that one of the places people were before here was literally a beach.

[ Why did Malcolm have to get 'post-apocalyptic hellscape'? ]

I got to enjoy the beach for three days before we all woke up on the train, but believe it or not, this place seems much more like home to me.

I'm... sorry to hear that?

[ He's not sure how to respond and hopes that the other man doesn't take offense to that. ]

You don't have to say anything. It's not all bad, and at least here we don't have to worry about submitting to random ID checks. It's hot here but it's livable.

[ Malcolm can't imagine how bad the place this man is from is if he thinks that this place is livable. ]
