[ Maybe it's a bit early to be sitting in a bar but this isn't a first for Jessica. Right now, she is sitting at the bar with a cup of coffee (or so it seems) sitting near her right elbow and some papers spread out in front of her. She currently has her device leaning against something, showing the rest of the open space behind her which seems to be a dance floor and a small stage where there is a DJ booth. ]

Hey, not really sure if we had a bar before or not but I have this place now. Figure it could be a safe place for people to hang out and unwind with all the crazy going on.

[ Plus maybe it's a rough town but people will learn soon that Jess won't stand for anyone messing with her or Pour Judgement. ]

I'll be opening up in the next couple of days. Just need to find some staff to help me run the place. Also, since I know we have a lot of kids running around and I know the ones I live with will ask, I'll allow you guys to hang out here most days until about nine. Then, after that, you have to scram. Also, there will be no drinking besides non-alcoholic drinks unless you're like...eighteen or nineteen. I haven't decided yet but I'll be watching and so will security. Whoever that might be.

[ A small stern look because, yeah, she might have a problem but she isn't going to let anyone else get like that. ]

Oh, and yes, the name of the bar is Pour Judgement. As in p-o-u-r.

[ She shrugs a little as she doesn't offer any more explanation and gets back to work instead. ]

I've worked customer service most of my life. Lots of dumb opinions there. When I was starting out there was a lot of stupid "My cargo has a tiny dent right here." Well maybe don't live on top of a mountain that I have to scale to get your fucking package to you.

I'm a PI in New York. Trust me, I've heard every stupid thing you can think of.

I don't remember New York, that was before the first blast. I'm from Capitol City, on the East Coast. Might be a similar place.

I've scaled cliff faces, climbed mountains. When they couldn't spare a vehicle for me, or my bike was broken down, I walked however long it was to the delivery site. And then back again. [He rubs at the back of his shoulder, where he has scars from wearing his pack all the time.]

It's one of the more dangerous jobs out there.

I'm guessing there was a reason for working that kind of job but...why?

The Death Stranding. It was this -- collision of worlds. The world of the living and the world of the dead. It caused an explosion that wiped out most of the West coast, devastated the country. It was the beginning of the end of the United States as you probably know it.

[To the second question, he shrugs a little] Some people do it for the likes, it's a high paying job. Some people do it for the danger, the adventure. The freedom.

[ At first, Jess doesn't even know what to say. She's heard of some crazy shit in the past but this is something else, even with what they're currently dealing with. ] I can't even imagine what that must have been like. It sounds like some crazy bullshit.

The freedom, mostly. Before I worked for a company I freelanced. Just being able to get on your bike and go somewhere felt damned good.

Actually, that doesn't sound so bad for the most part.

It was pretty cool. I've been to one end of the country and back again, and most of the habitable places in between.
