[The phone is propped up against something, because Sam's hands are busy. Or rather, his arms are, holding a newly out of the pod Lou. She's wearing a little striped onesie, though that's mostly hidden since she's also wrapped in a little pink blanket. She waves a little fist in the air and Sam wiggles his finger against her hand until she's grasping his finger.]

[ Oh hey, she has heard about this baby. ]

Cute kid. [ Yes, she says it with a straight face but she means it. ] Looks a little feisty.

[It is, indeed, the infamous baby Lou!]

Oh she's feisty alright. A real little fighter.

I was thinking that you should probably take some time before starting work but once you do? You can put a cot or a baby bed, whatever babies sleep in, in the office. It's probably one of the quietest rooms in the place.

Yeah, I'd definitely like some time with Lou before I dive into working two jobs. I'll look for a smaller crib -- or maybe ask Gwen to -- or a cradle or something. I have a little carrier for her right now, that she falls asleep in pretty well.

But that's nice of you, to offer up your office.

It's no big deal. [ She shrugs casually. ] There really isn't much in there, so I'll just clear out a corner. I'm sure Gwen could set it up too before you get here for your first shift.

[For someone who didn't get a lot of help from his own family at home, it's a huge deal to him. He rubs a hand over the back of his neck, trying not to be emotional about it]

You guys are the best.

[ Jess can understand that since she tends to be somewhat of a loner as well until people start forcing their way into hanging around her. Or even helping out. She often complains about it and...yet she lets it happen.

But she is still a bit weird about emotional things. ]

Right. Well, you know, we should...stick together.

Let me know if it's too soon for visitors. I know when my parents brought each of my brothers home, they needed time to adapt to new routines and all.

Also? Oh my God. She's precious and I love her to the moon and back already.

Hey, Gwen. I was already in love with her when she was in the pod, but holding her like this is completely different.

Give us a day or two to figure each other out, and then you can come see her. I know you're dying to.

By all means. Take all the time you need. I have four biological brothers in my universe. There was always adjusting and bonding.

But please give her a careful hug for me. I'll be over in a couple days. Hawk and I are going to go to the mall to see what we can find for her.

I can't even imagine having that many siblings. People from my world usually just have one kid. If any.

But that'd be awesome. If you're able to find like. A little play pen or a cradle or something. Jessica Jones said I could set her up in the office, when I'm working.

I'll do what I can. We'll figure something out.

And again, congrats. She really is precious.

The picture you drew is hanging up by her crib, so she can look at it whenever she wants.

There might be more coming soon. Probably. Soon as I find something she might like.

Anything with bright colours, I bet. I'll frame them and hang all of them around the place. Take her on a little art gallery tour every day.

I'll do cartoon animals with their names on them so you can go around the house and go "Cat. That says Cat." and all that fun.

That's so thoughtful of you. [He sounds -- not surprised, not exactly. Because Gwen is a thoughtful person. But he's just not used to people being thoughtful at him, and it catches him off guard when it happens.]

[ It's not much, but Sam will just receive an image taken of a page from a notebook, the whole page filled with bright colors and the words "WELCOME TO THE WORLD, LOU" written in large, loopy letters. ]

I'm buying a frame for this from the art store
So I can hang it near her bed

[ It gives him enough time to swing by the art store and pick up a frame himself, and when he gets arrives he sends another text. ]

Hey, I'm here.

[Sam opens the door with a crooked smile and a small wave, Lou bundled in a blanket and tucked against the crook of his arm.]

Hey, come on in.

Thanks.

[ As he steps into the house, he swings his backpack around to reach inside, pulling out the picture that's already been framed. ]

I went ahead and got it framed already, so it'd be easier to hang up.

That was really thoughtful of you. [Carefully, he takes the framed picture to admire it, smiling at all the colours and the message. He tips it to the side a little, and Lou reaches for it, cooing happily.]

Whatchya think, Lou? You like it? [Another coo and a happy burble, and Sam smiles] I think that's a definite yes.

[ Miles can't help a grin as he peers into the little Lou bundle. ] Awesome. I'm glad to get a passing grade from such an adorable critic.
