anyway, uh... what all's been going down since we moved into like an HP Lovecraft horror novel?
sorry I didn't get a notif for this
[ Explains a lot, doesn't it? ]
May thinks it should be illegal and is a heart attack waiting to happen. Sh-she's a nurse... so she's... probably right.
[ Never mind that, though! He moves off to the kitchen area to prepare Loki a glass of lemonade. ]
no subject
[It should have been mead or wine, but...sure. Lemonade.]
You seem alright.
no subject
I haven't died of a heart attack, yet. [ He says cheerily, like it's some kind of accomplishment. ]
uh, here.
[ He hands him the glass of lemonade ounce he's finished pouring it and then collects an energy drink for himself. ]
no subject
[He crinkles his nose, not at the smell of the lemonade, but the pungent scent of the energy drink Peter cracks open.]
Heavens that smells foul. No wonder May warned you off of them. Are you sure that isn't poison?
no subject
depends on your definition of poison.
[ Which his probably not the best argument he could make. He glances down in the can to look at the reddish liquid he can barely see beyond the tab. ]
but they're great for an energy kick.
no subject
[He does sniff his lemonade, finds it mediocre, and takes a sip, shrugging.]
I should hope so, given the name.

hey man, I'm a poor kid from Queen's New York-I'll take energy anyway I can get it if it'll help get me through the day.
no subject
Is there something inherent to Queens that drains your energy more so than other places?
no subject
No, but it does have a reputation for being more low income than most of New York. And being poor does drain more energy because of constantly worrying about finances, rent and food and stuff.
no subject
no subject
But that's not-I'm not really-I'm fifteen, what I know about how the world works.
no subject
But I see your point. You're not an infant, Peter. You're capable of understanding basic economics.
no subject
[ He sucks in a breath to calm himself down. ]
But you didn't come here to listen to me talk about how terrible capitalism really is.
no subject
The rest I'd have to get back to you on.
[Because what is bankruptcy? What is a minimum wage and how would something called 'minimum' not be enough?]
no subject
[ at least, as far as he's seen. ]
but like, seriously, how did we get on this topic?
no subject
[A beat.]
And I've no idea.
no subject
[ he may be avoiding the mention of anything actually tragic in his life. He did say he didn’t like talking about it. ]
But I guess you did come all the here so I do owe you something that not complete avoidance so uh…
[ what’s something he can say that’s not too upsetting? ]
I uh.. got made fun of and beat up for being weak a lot. Which I guess some people think is a reason to make fun of someone? I never understood it I just knew that if the attention was on me then it wouldn’t be on some else that maybe couldn’t just get up again.
no subject
How noble of you, taking the punishment for fellow downtrodden.
no subject
Better me than them, I guess. I'll just never really understand why being an orphan is like a neon sign to bullies but meh.
no subject
Because all are judged by the strength of their families. Because...an orphan is made to wonder if those who care for them do so out of pity, love, or something the orphan may provide for them.
( He doesn't say anything for a moment. )
And because of that, we feel we need to prove ourselves to them, even if they've never demanded it. It tells others there is something wanting in us...because we believe there is. It makes us easy targets.
