Heavens that smells foul. No wonder May warned you off of them. Are you sure that isn't poison?

[Asgard's ideas of candy are sweetened nuts and small cakes. It smells revolting.]

Is there something inherent to Queens that drains your energy more so than other places?

No, but it does have a reputation for being more low income than most of New York. And being poor does drain more energy because of constantly worrying about finances, rent and food and stuff.

No, I'm saying they have less to worry about. I mean at the end of the day do you think someone like Mr Stark has to worry about if he's gonna be living in the same place in a few months? May's had to take on so many extra shifts-she still does.

But that's not-I'm not really-I'm fifteen, what I know about how the world works.

But I see your point. You're not an infant, Peter. You're capable of understanding basic economics.

Not according to a lot of adult. It's all 'you'll change the way you think when you get older' which is complete bull shi-uh... crap tbh 'cuz like I'm never gonna think it's okay that a medical emergency could bankrupt someone. Or that someone on minimum wage has to work three jobs at minimum to make ends meet.

[ He sucks in a breath to calm himself down. ]

Well it is true, to an existent. Your world experience influences what you believe to be true and right. Other things for which there is no acceptance to be found? Often they are other than what you might believe.

You were needling me about my quote, unquote tragic past and I mean, really being poor is tragic in its own right.

I uh.. got made fun of and beat up for being weak a lot. Which I guess some people think is a reason to make fun of someone? I never understood it I just knew that if the attention was on me then it wouldn’t be on some else that maybe couldn’t just get up again.

Better me than them, I guess. I'll just never really understand why being an orphan is like a neon sign to bullies but meh.

Because all are judged by the strength of their families. Because...an orphan is made to wonder if those who care for them do so out of pity, love, or something the orphan may provide for them.

( He doesn't say anything for a moment. )

And because of that, we feel we need to prove ourselves to them, even if they've never demanded it. It tells others there is something wanting in us...because we believe there is. It makes us easy targets.
