Just leaving Starkbucks.

[ It doesn't take him long to get there once he figures out what in all the hells a Starkbucks is. He strides over towards the girl he saw a picture of, grunting in greeting. ]

Hope?

That's me. And you're Geralt.

[ This was...awkward to say the least. Hope didn't think she really needed a guardian. She was more than capable of taking care of herself, but hopefully, it wouldn't be that bad. ]

I am.

[ And he doesn't really know what to say after that. Hell, he didn't even want to claim his child of surprise until more recently when he was all but badgered into it, a child was forced on him here and he's got no better idea how to handle it. ]

[ He seemed about as thrilled as she felt. They randomly assigned people kids here? What if they were monsters? She supposed there really wasn't much she could do about it now but she really missed the school and Alaric. ]

Same, I suppose.

[ He hardly knows her, but she's a child. Be polite, like he has any idea how to deal with children. Even when he was a child himself he didn't have any idea how to deal with them, his instructors had seen to that.]

I don't know how this is supposed to go. Do what you like, I don't see the point in imposing rules. But if you run into trouble you can call on me.

[ But there are also some things he should know...about her. She was not exactly a normal girl. ]

So this is probably going to sound really strange, [ or not so strange considering what Hope had already seen here but ] I'm not human. I'm a tribrid. [ The only one in fact. Not that she expects him to know exactly what that means yet. ]

[ Considering the way he looks he can't really say much about being human, he certainly doesn't count himself as human anymore. So he only raises an eyebrow at her words. ]

What's a tribid? I've heard of a lot of creatures, but that's not one of them.

I'm a witch. But I'm also a werewolf. And I have vampire blood. And when I die, which with the way things have been going will likely be sooner rather than later I will activate my vampire side.

[ She figures it's best to be honest and upfront about it. Not everyone can handle a girl like Hope. ]

Strange combination. Not something you see often.

[ But there's no particular tone of accusation or suspicion; witches are as often good as they aren't, werewolves are cursed, not monsters.
Vampires are the only one he actually takes issue to, but maybe the other two will compensate. Something to be aware of, but nothing that needs dealing with right now. ]

How did that happen?

I'm basically a cosmic loophole. My father was a hybrid and my mother was a werewolf. Her throat was slit when she gave birth to me but because she still had my blood inside of her, she revived as a hybrid. And my grandmother was the Original Witch. At least in my world. My dad was over 1000 years old when he died. [ Hayley had been...considerably younger. Both of them should still be here now. But they weren't. And it was her fault. ]

[ He grunts, because what else can he really say to that? It's heavy, and not really any of his business, and it's not like he's going to unload any of his shit on her unprovoked. ]

So you were born that way. You're not cursed.

Right. Things probably work differently in the world I'm from. I go to a special school for kids like me.

[willnotchoose]

A special school.

[ He frowns. It's reflexive, the harshness of his own studies prompt it. ]

What did they teach?

[tribridloner]

Normal stuff, but there were also special classes, learning to control our powers and all that.

A lot of times when kids discover they're...special there can be...incidents.

[ And of course wolves and vampires especially don't need to be too close to regular humans. ]

My boyfriend is a phoenix.

[ His frown only deepens, arms crossing over his chest as he grunts in understanding. ]

What kind of incidents.

[ Like he really needs to ask. But at least he lets the phoenix comment go; he's met a dragon in human form, a Phoenix makes about as much sense as anything else he's seen. ]
