He hadn't been sure of gender via the messages and didn't want to assume by the use of 'witch' and not 'warlock' or 'sorcerer'. She was beautiful but appeared young, possibly legal. Not that it mattered, given her genealogy. She could easily be a few centuries old.

However, I did have a talking chimp as something of a butler growing up.

[ Diego wasn't mad or even annoyed. It was more teasing and maybe a little defensiveness and thinking of Pogo as something unbelievable. He wouldn't tell her about his mom being an android under the circumstances. ]

[ Not exactly true. He gave complete strangers shit. Hope might have struck a chord where he didn't want to do that to her. ]

Pogo was a good guy. [ Diego held a somber look. ] He deserved better than to be a slave to our father.

Your father sounds like a real piece of work.

[ Of course, many would have said the same about Hope's father. Can't live 1000 years without making some enemies. But that had never been the Klaus Hope had known. ]

[ He gave her a sad smile, not realizing there was any sadness in it. His contempt for Reginald Hargreeves was almost unquantifiable. ]

And he's dead. [ Diego looked away for a second as he continued to speak. ] So is Grace, our mom. Along with Pogo.

[ He looked back up to Hope, quickly shaking the sadness off of his face and looking more like her name. ] Look, all we can do now is stay alive and figure this out. Maybe get you back home.

[ She shook her head sadly. ]

Get us all back home. I'm sure your brothers and sisters need you too.

[ He uttered and straightened up, giving a false sense of agreement. Diego didn't feel right telling Hope that the Earth he came from had blown up. Yet if he had the chance to go back before it did to fix things, he'd take it in a heartbeat. ]

Hey, have you gotten a tour of this place yet?

I've just met my guardian. But I did some exploring on my own.

[ Understanding washed over his features. ]

[ He didn't regret the conversation but felt that it had gone on longer than it should have. ]
