[The video opens to a boy no older than eighteen, sitting on the floor in a living room that has no furniture in sight, wearing white-rimmed sunglasses (yes, indoors...) and nursing a bloody nose. Despite that, he grins.]

[He's...amiable, actually. Sounds like he's in a good mood.]

Hope you're not squeamish at the sight of blood. [His nose isn't bleeding that badly, anyway, and he dabs at it now and then with a tissue.] Some dickhead tried to mug me in town, but it's all good.

So what's the deal here? Gimme whatever information you've got on this place.

[It's not every day he wakes up on a train in the middle of who-knows-where after all.]

Not much to say. At least not from me. I'm sure someone with more time here will chime in. But as far as I know people get pulled here from different dimensions, worlds, what have you. And you happen to be one of those now.

[Honestly, he didn't even give a shit if his nose was or wasn't broken; it wouldn't be the first time. Still, he pushed himself up and made his way to the kitchen as he listened, opening drawers and...they were all empty.]

[Focusing on the screen again, he tilted his head.]

Can't say from here. If nothing else the ice will help reduce the blood flow.

Seems like it. And time travel. Apparently we've got some folks from hundreds of years ahead. Depending where on the timeline, or a timeline, you come from.

[He wasn't shy about putting his phone down on the counter and then just stripping out of his shirt, either. That done, he wrapped a generous amount of ice in his shirt and gingerly held it to his nose, picking up his phone again. Now that he was shirtless he was ridiculously skinny.]

You know, if I wasn't standing here right now, that would sound pretty crazy. I wonder what the future's like. Everyone's part of some kind of timeline, right?

[ The question was rhetorical but he could answer it if he wanted. Diego glared, unamused by the kid's greeting but didn't like to see him bleeding either. ]

You get a look at who tried mugging you? [ Actual question. Diego stayed put for an answer. ]

[If his relationship with his mother had ever been good, it sure as hell wasn't now. At least she hadn't tried to kill him, though.

He shrugged a shoulder.]

Dark hair, had a weird scar on his face, nose is probably broken now. Why, you gonna hunt him down or something?

That explains a lot. [ Diego dryly smacked his lips but simmered. ]

More like keep him on my radar and make sure he doesn't try shit like that again. What do you mean by weird scar? Something like mine?

[ He turned to show the right side of his face more clearly. ]

[But he was getting off-topic. Also, hilariously, he hadn't realized Diego had a scar until he pointed it out.]

Nah, not like that. More like- [He gestured with one hand over his face.] -down over his eye.

[ He continued to stare when the kid spoke about his old man. ]

No thanks. I had my own shit show.

[ Diego gave a nod, acknowledging the description that the kid gave. ]

So just making sure, the asshole didn't get away with taking anything of yours?

My condolences.

[No one deserved a shit show of a family.]

Nope. He gave it a good try, but I don't put up with that kind of bullshit.

[And considering that he was involved with shady shit, it probably wasn't the first time someone had tried to mug him. Hell, even without the shady dealings, it was likely.]

[ It never ceased to amaze Diego how abuse could conjure camaraderie. ...A sad realization every time. He gave the kid a single nod again. ]

[He wasn't going to admit if he needed or wanted back up. He was used to handling his problems on his own.]

[He couldn't help but laugh. He might as well have been an orphan for all his parents cared about him, but-]

[Nevermind that he had special abilities; he wasn't about to go talking about that with the first person who asked.]

[ Diego eyed Kavinksy, knowing they'd just met...if it could even be called meeting via the network. Ultimately, Diego decided to keep an eye on the kid from a distance rather than press the subject at the moment. ]

Maybe whatever's in charge of bringing us here has abandonment issues.

[And was trying to make up for it by kidnapping orphans. Or it was trying to build some kind of fucked up army or family.]

[ He arched a brow at the kid. Kavinsky sounded like he could be onto something. ]

Nobody knows. I haven't been here long but that's an answer I've been trying to find out since day one.

[ Maybe not day one. Diego did think it was his time traveling brother who caused him to arrive in Haven. ]

[Kavinsky usually had good ideas. No, that was a complete lie; most of his ideas were terrible and reckless.]

"Yeah, I doubt we have much of your kind of fun around here." He really, really hoped this guy didn't have powers. He'd had enough of crazy people with powers -- even though most of them seemed to like him for some reason. "You should get a baseball bat."

Lame. No one street races or shit like that?

[He considered the suggestion for a moment. He almost brought up that he had guns back home--though apparently none of them made the trip with him--but he declined. He owned none of them legally, so.]

I've got a pocketknife. But maybe I'll look into a baseball bat.

He opened his mouth, as if intending to immediately agree, but instead he closed his mouth, thought about it for a few seconds. "You know, I actually wouldn't be surprised if there were people down for street racing. It's just no one's done it yet," and Kavinsky was probably going to fix that in short order.

[He grinned at that 'yet'.]

Well, that's about to change if I have any say in things.

[And he usually had a pretty damn big say in things.]

"Yeah, I was getting that impression," he grinned. "If you scrape a race together let me know, I can call the finish for you."

Yeah? I'll keep you in mind.

[Was he flirting? Absolutely.]

Was he blushing? Yes. Was he going to pretend he wasn't? Also yes. "Stiles. And when you break your car you can bring it to me, I've got all the duct tape a boy could want."

[Aw, the blush was cute. And here he'd thought Stiles couldn't get any cuter.]

If it breaks. [He was pretty good at not breaking his car. Except, you know, the time he'd lit it on fire.]

Man this is the king of bad ideas, and Stiles damn well knows it. "All cars break eventually, dude. And nah, I don't have anything goin' on at the moment."

[His wasn't made to break, but that wasn't something he could freely talk about.]

You want to go for a drive? Grab some food, maybe?

"I'm a teenage boy, I have never turned down a good meal," he replied with a bright grin. "You know where the apartment buildings are? I can meet you out front."

Not off the top of my head, but I'm sure I can figure it out.
