A message from the Mayor - 11:15 AM 08/04/21

Good afternoon, residents of Haven and visitors.

This message is for all of you. As we're all well aware, the recent storms have devastated our town. There are reports of businesses destroyed, structures needing repair and people missing.

Visitors, it will probably surprise you that the residents of Haven have asked me to ask you to help. While they were unsure of all of you at first, they've come to realize you're not associated with the Marauders that roam outside our walls, or Madame Sunshine and her group.

They trust you, essentially, and are aware that a lot of you possess unusual skills that would be beneficial to rebuild the town.

At present, our current situation has left us entirely vulnerable to Madame Sunshine and her group, so help would be most appreciated. Any way possible.

This seems like an awful lot of trust to place on strangers.

Now, don't get me wrong, I spent the better part of three decades doing the whole community service job thing, I just think you folks might want to be a bit more careful about who you're asking for help.

On a related note, who is "Madame Sunshine" because that's a hell of a name for the leader of a presumed criminal organization.

By all accounts, we're all strangers to the Mayor. She's hosted us for over nine months.

Not that I'm willing to extend a hand out to this "Madame Sunshine" myself. The name is a little presumptuous for a desert world.

Nine months and she's only just now formally introduced herself?

I assume it's an irony thing on "Sunshine"'s part. A lot of people in my world who are in positions of power go by cutesy assumed names like that; it drives me up the wall.

The former President's lapdog has one of them, and I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. Madame Sunshine is almost certainly anything but.

Well, she's been here and there. Though I've heard form Mr. Wechester more than her. Obviously.

I suppose that's better than letting your real name out there. Makes it so you're less accountable as a leader if people don't know who you really are.

Do we know anything of her motives?

Maybe so. Though it seems that hasn't stopped her from making a name for herself anyway, if people in government are warning us about her.

As for the lapdog, he's a coward as far as I'm concerned.

I'd assume she's after money or power. Or both. Offer to help the populace out, but the payment comes steep.

As much as I support local officials? I'm not sure they really have the power to be saying one thing or another about the realities we visit. We're guests in every single one of them. Or, invaders, depending on how you look at it.

There doesn't seem to be a point of money here in Haven. Power, influence, territory?
