[There's a lot of grumbling as the audio starts. Beast is hardly going to show himself off to the populace at large right off the bat, given his startling appearance. That's a good way for people to turn up with the torches and pitchforks. There's a lot of muttering in his deep, growly voice.]

No--No--No! That's not right-- Maybe if I-- Oh da--

[And the audio cuts out. It's restored a few minutes later and this time he at least seems to be certain he's recording.]

I was wondering if anyone here is familiar at all with magic and curses?

[Might as well get a general sense of what everyone here thinks about the subject before he decides to reveal himself as a big, possibly scary monster.]

I'm familiar with magic, more on a theoretical level than on actual usage.

If you mean magical curses I'm not so sure such a thing exists where I am from, but I have heard of aether imbalance causing illness. Sometimes people confuse that kind of illness for a curse.

Aether is... [ She paused, considering how to word it. ] Aether is the energy behind magic and life. It flows in the world around us, and it flows through us.

[ Her expressions were very subtle, but she looked as if she were uncomfortable as she began again. ] In my original home there was a sort of incurable illness you could get if you were exposed to too much light aether. Over time you would basically turn into a statue made of white marble before you... changed.

[Hey, at least as a beast he could still move around and reason like a human being, though he did worry he was going to lose a lot of that if the curse became permanent.]
