soo what exactly is this place? it's a city, i get that but it's not a normal city-i mean people dont really just wake up in a completely new city and get offered a bunch of money just for turning up.

Think of this place as more of a multiverse or nexus than just a normal city. From what I've been told the city setting changes but the usual inhabitants seem to be entirely unaware of the changes.

As to why we are here? No one really knows that's one of those things I'm still researching about to mixed results. For the time being, we are here and we are expected to be productive citizens.
