[Another new face - but this one seems well-acquainted with cameras and how they work, from the way he's mugging for it. His grin is wide enough to be almost unsettling, hair greased back, the room around him dim.]

New in town. Name's Alan. All this is...fucked up, huh? Still getting a read on it all, but...WOW.

[He leans back in his chair, and into a beam of light escaping through curtains. He scowls for a moment, leaning forward again and back out of it. The scowl turns into what COULD be an apologetic smile, but something is definitely not right about its sincerity.]

Anyone know where I can pick up some sunglasses? I'm from New York, all this desert shit is giving me a migraine.

I'm guessing they're used to being raided. Or, they're the raiders. The environment implies that the strongest and fittest are the ones that survive. I'm surprised a community exists at all out in the open.
