Uh... hi.
My name is Jesse. I just arrived here on a train? That's weird, and I KNOW weird. I sort of live it for a living?
Anyways... what's the deal here?
Does everyone just show up on a train and continue living their normal lives?
Does anyone know a way to contact people back in the reality they came from?
This isn't what I'd have in mind for a vacation spot.
I'd like somewhere... tropical. Just a thought for next time people decide to kidnap me into another reality.

Jesse Faden?
Is that you?
no subject
Oh, Emily is going to be pissed. ]
Dr. Darling!? You're HERE?
no subject
This is unbelievable - I mean, what are the odds? I can't even begin to fathom!
I only arrived here a week ago myself. I'm still gathering information, but it does seem like we're meant to settle in. Science rests for no one, though!
Are you all right? Nothing...else crept here with you, did it?
no subject
[ Probably something to do with exposure to the same resonance and all... ]
I don't really plan to settle in? I - WE - need to get back.
If by 'nothing else' you mean something that might have hitched a ride home with me that could be hostile to any living thing here? Then, no. I don't think so.
Just the usual ride along.
[ 'By that I mean YOU, of course.' Jesse raises an eyebrow as she feels that familiar tingle from her extra-dimensional friend. Though, Darling would know about that. ]
no subject
Oh, rest assured, I don't mean to rest on my laurels here. But we need to arm ourselves with knowledge if we're going to get ourselves - or anyone else - home.
Good. That's good. I'm glad to hear that.
Listen - Director - I am at the Starkbucks coffee shop if you would like to come meet with me. I'm sure we both have questions for each other to answer.
no subject
I think that's probably a good idea. You don't waste any time, do you, Darling?
no subject
Never! I won't lie to you, Director, while of course my loyalty is to the Bureau I do love having a new puzzle to solve.
Come, get a coffee and let's talk. My treat.
no subject
I'm on the way. Be there in five. Hopefully.

This place does take some adjusting to, if you manage to at all. And I'll offer this warning now: the location that we're in will eventually change to another, seemingly with no rhyme or reason for it.
Perhaps the next one will be somewhere tropical.
no subject
Wait it changes? How does it change?

As your questions:
It seems like yes, we all showed up on the train and just continued living our normal or new lives.
It doesn't seem like there is a way to contact people from home.
And a tropical place sounds lovely but I'm not sure I would trust it any more than anywhere else they might put us.
no subject
Right. So, how do we live like normal in something that looks like it came out of an apocalyptic movie?
I guess that'd make it too easy.
Where else have they put you?
no subject
Well, we found the apartment they assigned to us, got jobs, and then just continued on day by day. It's been weird, I'm not going to lie.
Actually, this is the first place for me. I haven't been here that long.
no subject
A newbie like me. It sounds like something to get drinks over.
no subject
I like the way you think. There is a bar called Pour Judgement, I can meet you there?
no subject
What about the North Star?
That... sounds better than you realize. Sure. How do I get there from the station?

It's too bad you missed the first place we were at. It was a pretty nice town by the beach. That probably would've been more up your alley.
no subject
It'd definitely be nice from what I'm used to. I've... been sort of locked inside my work building for a few weeks.
[ 'Weeks. Three is what Langston said.' Jesse frowns as she looks at the conversations on her phone. ]
no subject
Sorry this is the first place you see after being locked up at work. Just be careful not to go too far out of town, otherwise you're really in for a bad time.
no subject
Sorry for all the questions, but... what happens when you get outside of town?
It's fine. I mean, at least it isn't just concrete I'm looking at.
no subject
There are a lot of dangerous creatures outside the town walls. It's easier just to not deal with them.
no subject
What kind of creatures? I sort of... work in pest control.
no subject
[ He forwards her a picture of the giant crablike ants that he had saved on his phone. ]
This is just one of kinds of crazy things just outside the wall. The locals call these guys Skitters, and they breathe fire so if you see one try not to get too close.
no subject
Skitters huh. And there's not a nearby lake we can just drop them into.

[ Did she mention shes a bit of a conspiracy theorist? ]

But I can't say for sure that there isn't anything else out there either.
no subject
no subject
There's also someone out there trying to get us, I guess? There were some devices that were causing us to glitch out a little while ago, but we've gotten those taken care of.
no subject
Glitch out?
no subject
That's a bit hard to explain. It was like our bodies were having a problem with being in the wrong world, and kind of spasming at random times.
no subject
It makes more sense than you'd think. Does it happen a lot here?
no subject
It was actually the first time it happened since we came here. We didn't glitch in the other cities we were in. Turned out to be someone using some devices that was causing it.

As for the rest, I don't know but I don't think we can contact anyone from home. At least, no one has told me yet if there is a way.
no subject
I'm guessing the idea of other dimensions isn't a common thing for people until they show up here?
no subject
Not really, no. At least not for me.
no subject
Got it.

no subject
What sort of things do you and your team solve?

My life is the furthest thing from what most consider normal, but waking up on a stifling hot train in an alternate reality isn't how I expected to start my day.
It seems like a lot of us are still trying to figure everything out.
If you find a tropical paradise, please take me with you. Desperately in need of a vacation. I'm Wanda, by the way, if you couldn't tell. Wasn't very original with my username.
no subject
Wanda. I like it.
I'll make sure to let you know if I find a beach.
