My name is Jesse. I just arrived here on a train? That's weird, and I KNOW weird. I sort of live it for a living?

Anyways... what's the deal here?
Does everyone just show up on a train and continue living their normal lives?
Does anyone know a way to contact people back in the reality they came from?
This isn't what I'd have in mind for a vacation spot.
I'd like somewhere... tropical. Just a thought for next time people decide to kidnap me into another reality.

I wouldn't say our "normal" lives exactly, but it is kind of a day to day thing. No way of being able to contact people back home yet, though.

It's too bad you missed the first place we were at. It was a pretty nice town by the beach. That probably would've been more up your alley.

It'd definitely be nice from what I'm used to. I've... been sort of locked inside my work building for a few weeks.

People have been working on it, but nothing's come out of it yet.

Sorry this is the first place you see after being locked up at work. Just be careful not to go too far out of town, otherwise you're really in for a bad time.

Huh. Do you know who I could contact about that?

Sorry for all the questions, but... what happens when you get outside of town?

It's fine. I mean, at least it isn't just concrete I'm looking at.

To be honest, I'm not sure who's really made any progress on it. You might be able to ask around the network though.

There are a lot of dangerous creatures outside the town walls. It's easier just to not deal with them.

What kind of creatures? I sort of... work in pest control.

[ He forwards her a picture of the giant crablike ants that he had saved on his phone. ]

This is just one of kinds of crazy things just outside the wall. The locals call these guys Skitters, and they breathe fire so if you see one try not to get too close.

That's... new. I was hoping for something mold-y? Maybe.

Skitters huh. And there's not a nearby lake we can just drop them into.

Nothing but desert for miles. Which of course they're good at burying into, so that's fun.

Burying into? What is they're trying to find?

Haven't really had a chance to ask. I'm guessing prey? Or maybe just to hide out when they're not hunting.

Or... there might be something a bit more secretive out there.

[ Did she mention shes a bit of a conspiracy theorist? ]

It's definitely possible. [ He doesn't entirely think that's the case, but he won't rule out the possibility. ]

But, you don't think that's what's out there. Do you?

Honestly, it's hard to say. I don't think there's been too much exploration out there to find anything suspicious.

But I can't say for sure that there isn't anything else out there either.

Then I guess the next question I have is: what DO we know about anything here?

Not much, unfortunately. The people in town don't seem to like us because of something that happened with other outsiders, but they won't really talk about it.

There's also someone out there trying to get us, I guess? There were some devices that were causing us to glitch out a little while ago, but we've gotten those taken care of.

But they're letting us stay here to some extent. Meaning they want us to do something for them... willingly or not, I bet.

So far, they mostly just wanted us to leave them alone it seemed. Though they're starting to ease up a bit now.

That's a bit hard to explain. It was like our bodies were having a problem with being in the wrong world, and kind of spasming at random times.

I get wanting to be alone. I did it most my life.

It makes more sense than you'd think. Does it happen a lot here?

Yeah, I get it too, but it's not like we have a choice to be here either. We wouldn't be bothering them if we could help it.

It was actually the first time it happened since we came here. We didn't glitch in the other cities we were in. Turned out to be someone using some devices that was causing it.
