Well, isn't this an interesting situation? My name is Heisenberg, I arrived here a few days ago. Just getting settled in, you know. A lot different from what I'm used to, but I'd like to think I'm adaptable.

I've formed something of an understanding with them. They listen to me better than they listen to anyone else in the village, I suppose.

Weeeeell, not everyone has the gift of gab like I do. And they don't take the time to appreciate these fascinating creatures.

Yep! I've seen a few. Just a heads up; if you do go outside the wall, there's also Marauders and Lunatics out there.

I'm from a small, secluded village in Eastern Europe. Lots of picturesque snowy mountains, that sorta thing.

That's true. Even I didn't expect to have this thrown my way.

Oh, that actually sounds super nice. Especially compared to the heat here. I guess that's probably going to be the biggest difference. That and we kinda had an attack here, I guess you'd call it that. Mostly just seemed to cause people's powers to stop working and some sort of memory sharing.

Everyone likes to think that. Doesn't mean it's always true.

[Alan is already making up a laundry list of character tropes this guy would have if he was a character in an Alex Casey novel. He has to remind himself that this is in fact a real person and real people have more nuance than whatever essence this guy is radiating. But come on - the hat, the glasses, the cigar, the way he smokes it, and then the confident lean back? This is like the guy you go to for information in the seedy underbelly of town, who tells you you won't like the price but you go for it anyway, and then you have to perform a hit in exchange despite your personal moral code to not commit murder.

This is why Alan doesn't have friends, really.]

It's much drier than I'm used to, though I can't complain about it.
