[ Oh, look! It’s the blue-haired girl again. She’s outside her castle again, this time in the bigger backyard, and somewhere behind her is her sister, Snow. It’s not quite obvious just yet, but Snow is talking to someone and the conversation sounds delightful. Grinning at her sister for a moment, Evie turns to look at the FluxPhone. ]

So, not only did I get my bike, but we have a new housemate.

[ And Evie sounds fairly excited. She needed a few days to adapt to the idea, sure. But she got there quick. Snow is happy, so Evie’s happy. Turning to look at her sister, she speaks to snow. ]

Would you like to introduce your friend, Snow?

Oh! Why hello there! It's so nice to see you! I would like to introduce my new friend. Come here, dear.

[A black wolf comes into view. Yes, a wolf, not a dog.]

Everyone, this is Alarick! Isn't he adorable!

[The wolf, for his part, looks bashful. Yes, the wolf looks bashful.]

Alarick is such a sweet boy, it was such a wonderful surprise for him to just pop out of the box.

[Evie turns to grin at the FluxPhone’s camera again as Alarick comes trotting over, nudging the palm of her free hand to get her attention. ]

Yes, you’ll eat soon. Just wait.

[ She doesn’t speak to the animals like Snow does, but she recognizes a hungry animal when she sees one. ]

He was most certainly a shock.

[ A good one, if the soft smile on her face is any manner of tell. ]

I think this might be Snow’s surprise, as mine is in the driveway of my castle. What did everyone else get when we changed over to Wechester City?

[ A huff from the adorable wolf and Evie sighs, raising one eyebrow as if to say ‘my fairy godmother, can you believe this?’ before she turns her feed off, the last shot the phone showing of Alarick trotting along beside Evie as she heads inside. ]

Isn't it a bit dangerous to have a wild animal in the city? I mean, he seems pretty cool, but the people around here might not realize right away that he's friendly.

[ Then again, from what he's seen about the people in Wechester so far, they might not even notice. ]

It is, but after he showed up I looked up laws and ordinances of Wechester.

Wolves are not against the law, here, in terms of exotic pets to own. Not to mention, Snow and I took him for a walk. We even went into FreshWay with him. No one looked at us twice.

[ This place is really, really weird. And this comes from a girl who grew up on a prison island with a magical barrier around it. ]

Forgive me. Where are my manners? I'm Evie. You're new, too, right?

...Yeah, that tracks.

[ Honestly, he's not even a little surprised that no one cared about a wolf walking around. ]

Yeah, just showed up recently. I'm Miles.

Doesn't it? I could swear til I was blue in the face that the man that runs the water ice place was the same guy from Beachville, but he insists that while it's a stop on the subway, he's never been. It's the strangest thing, but with how people handled seeing Alarick? I'm really not shocked.

Nice to meet you, Miles. I arrived recently, too. Back when things were still sandy and people weren't quite as irritable.

Yeah, it's weird, right? The entire city just changes, but everyone says it hasn't?

Nice to meet you too. I only caught the tail end of the beach city, but I already kinda miss it.

Then again, this place now is a bit more like where I come from, so there's that.

Nonsense, there's nothing dangerous about a wolf so long as you understand how they are to be treated.

Oh well yeah, sure, I know that [ Kinda ]. Just saying other people might not. And they might get scared 'cuz they don't know any better.

Well, it's not like Alarick will be out and about without me or Evie! I'll be happy to explain. I'm sure once I do, everyone won't be so scared.

...so, uh...could we get to meet Alarick in person?

[ He'd never really seen a wolf up close outside of the zoo before. ]

Definitely. What better way to learn about him than up close and personal, right?

Well, he's still his own animal, so if he doesn't want to share about himself, we have to respect that. But Alarick has been so considerate!

Well yeah, of course. Wouldn't wanna force him to do anything. But if he doesn't mind, I'd totally like to meet him.

I shall ask, but Alarick is very agreeable, I don't think it will be a problem.

[Snow gives the address to the mini-castle or "starter castle" as Evie calls it, that she and her stepsister live in.]

I shall see you tomorrow. OH! Before I forget, what's your favorite dinner to eat?

[ He saves the address and makes sure to look it up on a map later. ]

Well, uh...I dunno if you would've heard of it, but back home my mom makes this dish called pollo guisado. It's kinda like a chicken stew thing.

Well, I haven't heard of that, no... but I'll make you Geflügelragout!

That's okay. I doubt too many people here have really heard of it.

[ Maybe he should try making it himself. He'd helped his mom do it a few times. Hmm... ]

[ He couldn't even try to repeat it. ]

It's chicken stew on rice, just like you asked for!
