Okay...so I think we can all agree that the people here are pretty...grumpy, to put it nicely. And to be honest, I can't say I really blame them, but I tend to get a little nervous when people give me the kind of looks that the town folks have been giving us on the regular.

I think I might've found something that could help, though. You've probably noticed that the people here really like color. Kinda hard not to see it; there are paintings everywhere, people sporting all kinds of crazy clothes and body art. And no one really minds if you put up some art on any available wall. I've kinda been doing a lot of it since we got here, and while it hasn't exactly gotten people to warm up to me - yet - I do get far less dirty looks for just being around.

So that might be a good place to start? Decorating houses, or workplaces, or whatever so that we blend in a bit more - or stand out, I guess. Maybe it'll get the people around here to lighten up a little more around us? At the very least, they might like seeing more art out there.

And I'd be happy to help out if anyone needs it. This is kinda my thing.

It looks like you've got your own project there. What're you working on?

Currently? A toaster.

[He smiles, holding up the guts of what is quite possibly one of the oddest looking toasters Earth had ever seen.]

I work at a repair shop, we see all kinds of stuff. These are new, at least to me, but I'm pretty good at figuring things out on my own.

[ Miles tilts his head a bit; even if it wasn't completely gutted, he couldn't imagine how that particular object was a toaster. ]

...That's really a toaster?

It's a weird toaster, I know, but from what I can tell it is, yeah. The good news is electronics really only work in so many different ways.

[He rolls a shoulder in a shrug.]

And what better way to understand this place than to take it apart?

[ He snickers a little. ] That's definitely one way to do it.

I'm good at taking things apart. My problem is putting them back together.

[He grins.]

Here, I'll even give you a lesson right now: Experiment with shapes. If stick figures aren't working for you, try something else.

[ He snickers. ] Or no shapes at all. You can go abstract with it. It doesn't have to look like anything. It just has to express who you are.

Abstract might be the way to go for me, but I'll give it a shot, sure.

Abstract is great, because you can pretty much do whatever you want.

You know, I used to teach, so if you've got any finger paint, we might be on to something.

The craft store might have some, actually. There's not as many options now as there used to be, but I think there's still some stuff there we could use if you want.
