[Sam's a little more used to the devices now, so when the video starts, his face is a normal distance away from this time. He waves and gives an awkward kind of half smile, rubbing at the back of his neck.]

Hey. I'm Sam. I just got here a couple weeks ago. You've probably seen me around. I deliver for SuperWaiters. Uh, what else.

I'm from Earth? America, but maybe a different America from yours. From the East Coast, mostly. I was a delivery person there, too, so I traveled a lot.

[There are some small, sleepy noises in the background and Sam murmurs Oh she's up before swinging the camera around to show a pod with a baby in it, carefully nestled into the crate with blankets]


That's Lou. She's my little girl. She uh, she's a preemie. The pod helps her.

Anyway. [He clears his throat and brings the camera back to him, waving again] I'll probably see you around town.

Hello, Sam. I'm Lydia, it's nice to meet you.

[ Lydia smiles softly, tilting her head to the side. She is still home at the moment, not due for work for another hour or so which means she has time to pay attention to any videos going out. She has been keeping quiet for the most part but the sight of a baby draws her in. ]

Your little girl is very cute. How long does she have to be in the...pod for?

[Another teenager. Where do they all come from? Sam can't remember the last time he saw this many teenagers. Maybe since he was one. But he waves anyway] Nice to meet you to, virtually.

She is pretty cute, huh? And I'm not... really sure. The doctor I knew at home said it was too dangerous to ever take her out. I was hoping to talk to a doctor here, or something. See if I could get another professional opinion.

[ Lydia would be amused at being thought of as a teenager since she hasn't been one for a few years now but it'd be a compliment as well. ]

Why would they say that? Wouldn't the pod eventually be too small for her?

He thought something maybe stunted her growth. That she wouldn't get any bigger. [He swallows hard, looking over at Lou and trying to smile. No use explaining the whole -- bridge baby thing to someone not from his world. And besides, Lou had never been a bridge baby to him. Not since he'd found her again.]

But she's fiesty. I'll find someone here who will take good care of her.

[ She frowns a bit at that because the idea that the baby wouldn't get any bigger didn't make sense to her but clearly there is more to the story than what meets the eye. ]

I'm sure there is probably a doctor around or two but if you can't find anyone? I could take a look at her.

[To his credit, Biggs is trying real hard not to stare. It's not working out for him as much as he'd like.]

Uh...Hi Sam. I'm Biggs.

What, uh...happened to her mother?

[Sam does his best to hide his pained expression, looking down and away, his hair half covering his face.] Hey, Biggs. Um, her mother uh -- she didn't make it. It's just me and Lou now.

I'm sorry to hear that.

[What kind of world puts a baby in a tube, though? He wasn't even sure Shinra would go that far...but he might be surprised about that.]

Listen, if you need any help with her, give me a call, okay?

Thank you. Thanks, I -- [He clears his throat a little] We didn't get a lot of support, at home. And here there are all these people stepping up to offer help.

There are always good people. Sometimes you just have to work to find them.

[He smiles.]

[ There is the softest of delighted squeals from Evie as she gets a look at Lou. Nothing else matters except for how precious that baby is, and Evie is absolutely going to say something about her. ]

Look at her! She's absolutely darling!

[ This was what Evie needed to get herself out of her melancholy. A tiny, precious baby to grin at. ]

Oh, forgive me. My manners must be on vacation. My name is Evie. Evie Grimhilde. Welcome to our strange universe. It's a pleasure to meet you both, Sam and Lou.

It's nice to meet you too, Evie. And she is, isn't she? I think we'll do okay here.

[ Evie's going to help. She's decided, and when Evie makes a decision, she's pretty damn well gonna see it through. ]

Lou looks like a very beautiful little girl. I'm sorry you both got brought here though, it doesn't seem right for someone so small. [ And helpless. That just makes this place seem...well, mean. ]

We'll make it work. We always do.

I know how that goes. [ Just focusing on trying to make it work that is. ] If you need any help making it work, I'd be happy to. Does she uh, need anything like that or does the pod take care of it all on it's own somehow?

I'm used to meeting people through holograms, so this isn't much different.

The pod gives her what she needs, for now. So she'd be pretty easy to look after. [He smiles softly and draws a finger over the side of her pod, his heart melting at the sleepy noises she's making.]

You're not the first to offer. She kinda has that effect on people. Makes them fall in love with her the second they see her.

Holograms, really? Weird.

[ She kept help but smile watching that. ] That's pretty cool that the pod does that for her. How long does she have to stay in it?

I think you both probably play a role there. [ Jean laughs very lightly. ] Nobody can resist an adorable family. Brings out the natural instinct in people to want to help make sure they both stay safe and happy. [ Or maybe that's just her and her own bias towards seeing a dad look at his kid that way. ]

The thing is, when you've spent a long time not being you and are confronted suddenly with someone connected with not-you? You tend not to want to interact.
