[ The face that comes on video is a young woman with fiery red hair and a tired looking smile. She's doing her best to try to keep it all together given the circumstances here and the circumstances she left back home. ]

So, uh, hi. My name is Jean Grey. I've also gone by Marvel Girl and Phoenix more recently but...[ she shrugs and chuckles ] not really sure what the point in keeping superhero codenames would be in a place like this. Just Jean seems pretty good to me.

[ She waves a hand. ] Anyway, I've been trying to get to know people. I'm used to living in a school with a lot of people I know. They're loud sometimes but, I dunno, I guess it's different when you know them. I had a question though, to try to get to know people better. Where I come from it's not uncommon for people to have special gifts. What I wanted to ask is, how common is that where you're all from? And if you're comfortable saying, how many of you have gifts? I'll understand if anyone isn't that comfortable talking about their own, where I'm from it's also super common for humans to hate people with abilities. So, no worries if you don't want to talk about it and thank you to anyone that does.

Less surprised is a step in the right direction, I think. As long as the less surprised doesn't include more inclined to create angry mobs.

Not that I'm aware of. Although the one I'm thinking of has been around since I could remember, so I'm not sure what it was like without him around.

What kind of abilities does the one you're thinking of have?

He's got Spider powers. There's a whole theme around it.

Really? We've got someone like that in my world too. I knew him pretty well.

[idontgetpaid]

[ Miles can't help brightening up at that. ] Oh yeah? You've got a Spider-Man in your world? That's awesome.

[ He doesn't sound too surprised, though. He's pretty used to the idea of Spider-people in different universes. ]

Yeah, he's not a bad kid. He was a good sport about things. Even ended up involved with one of my teammates.

[idontgetpaid]

Kid? Oh, is he still a teen where your from?

[ It was really strange when he'd met the teen Peter for the first time, but now it's just another thing he's gotten used to. ]

[iseegoblins]

Yeah, he's still in high school. Is the one in your world an adult?

[idontgetpaid]

[ He clears his throat a little. ] Uh, yeah...one of them was, anyway.

[ 'Was'. ]

[iseegoblins]

Oh...uh...was?

[idontgetpaid]

[ He hesitates for just a moment. It's not exactly something he felt was a necessary to keep a secret, but it was still a bit difficult to talk about sometimes. ]

...yeah. He, uh...died pretty recently, back where I come from. A new Spider-Man stepped up to take over the role, but...

[ But it was still a loss all the same. ]

That uh, sucks. I'm sorry. Did you know him well?

[idontgetpaid]

No, not really. We had...just met, actually, the day that...it happened.

[iseegoblins]

Ouch. That must have been a lot to have happen.

[idontgetpaid]

Yeah, it was...definitely something.

The new Spider-Man is doing a pretty good job, but it's still tough...for him.

[iseegoblins]

I bet it's hard having such big shoes to fill.

[idontgetpaid]

A little bit. But he's working hard and doing his best. That's all anyone can really ask for, right?

Sometimes it's all anyone can really do. I think it says a lot about a person if they at least try to do that much.

[idontgetpaid]

[ He nods. ] Yeah. I'm sure he appreciates hearing that, though.

[ He's hoping he's not being too obvious right now. ]

Yeah? Well, that's good. I'd kinda like to meet him.

[idontgetpaid]

Well, uh... [ Does he mention it? Well, she might see him around anyway. ]

He actually showed up here a while ago. Goes by Arachnid these days, because there'd been another...another Spider-Man, so he wanted to make it less confusing. But you might catch him around sometime.

[iseegoblins]

Arachnid. I'll keep that in mind. I kinda made things rough for the one where I'm from once. So, I guess maybe I owe something to other Spider-Men on his behalf.

[idontgetpaid]

Really? How so? What happened? [ He can't help being curious. ]

[iseegoblins]

Oh. Uh....well. [ She should not have mentioned this. ] I kind of swapped him with someone. If I had any idea he'd have been the one I totally wouldn't have done it.
