The feed opens with a close up of Stiles's nose at a less than flattering angle, but he quickly pulls it away and gets it so that his face is mostly in the frame. "So, uh, I may have fallen down a rabbit hole of research and not looked up in, uh. Two months. Did I miss anything important?" He grins, with absolutely no remorse at all.

Yeah, you missed a lot. Like work. Have you been at work?

[Work was especially important to Adam, all things considered. Mostly because it gave him something to focus on that wasn't all the awful things happening in his life.]

Also, the circus and the glitching.

Oh, shit. Stile's face falls in an instant, and he lets out an almost nervous giggle.

"Uh... nope. I have not. I wasn't sure it was even still here after all the..." he waves a hand, as if that's supposed to finish his thought for him. Good luck finding that train, it's already off the rails, sorry.

"Well, I started with guns, because there's lots of weird weapons here and somehow I ended up on konjac root? Yeah, I thought the glitching was like, inside my brain. Oops."

Oh. Yeah. I forgot about that.

[Somehow, he'd forgotten that the entire town had shifted and changed. He'd gotten so used to it that it was becoming no big deal to him.]

Well, you're still employed, somehow, so.

[So he'd better show up to work after today.]

Those are...both weird things to research.

[But who was he to say anything about weird when he'd spent an entire summer helping research dead Welsh kings?]

Why are you attacking him like this, Adam? He thought you were his friend! "I will show up tomorrow, promise. If I can find it. Or remember. Tomorrow is a long way away."

You're never getting an answer to that last question, though, because, "actually they're both related way more than you would expect! See, I started with guns and how they do test fires and some places use this stuff called ballistics gel, which is like approximately the same density as a human body, but I think just the soft tissue, not the bones? So then I started looking at the stuff they use to make the gel and it turns out it's real similar to the stuff they use to make jello and ho boy you do not want to know what that's made of, so I started looking for less-gross alternatives and it turns out in Asia they use this konjac stuff to make gelatin and it's also a vegan alternative -- again, super gross, what normal jello is made of, and then I found out that it's also super healthy! Because Asia, I guess, and so now there are places that make diet noodles with it and I have no idea if it's any good, but..." he's not going to stop if you don't stop him, Adam.

[They only spoke once. It took more than that to become Adam's friend. Unless, you know, he wanted to give you his number, but that was a different matter entirely and not even that special in this place.]

I can drive you to work tomorrow if you want. I've got directions pretty well under control.

[He was fascinated by Stiles's ramble, he really was, but it reminded him a little too much of Gansey and sometimes you could only handle one Gansey in your life.]

"Oh, yeah? Sweet!" His gelatin-infused train of thought has successfully been derailed, at least. "Lemmie text you the address," he says, but then looks off camera, muttering to himself. "If I can find it."

He turns back to face the phone, and speaks in an awkward, louder tone. "Hey siri! Where the hell do I live?"

( Loki sets down a book as he flicks on the video. )

Only one hot day after another peppered with an out of town circus and some sort of coordinated attack on the lot of us. Nothing too pressing.

( He reaches off-screen and returns with a wine glass, half-full, which he draws to a quarter before commenting. )

I don't believe we've met. I'm Loki.

( A smile. )

The fact that Stiles is quiet long enough for Loki to finish that is sign enough that he is a bit dumbfounded.

"My dude, you are definitely high key." Is he fucking around to find out? Absolutely.

( He continues his smile, though he blinks at the camera. Annoyed? Never. It was clever word play, after all. )

Occasionally, yes, but not at the moment.

( Though he does finish his wine. The wine here is terrible. It's a means to an end, not a pleasure to sip. )

Who are you, then? I'll not be calling you mischief for several reasons. Mainly that it's my line.

The phone is jostling around, like Stiles just can't stand to sit still even while he's having a conversation. "I'm Stiles, I fix things and also detect stuff... because I'm a detective." Yeah, that sounded like 75% smarter when it was still inside his brain.

He's firing on too many cylinders here, that's the problem. "So, uh, Loki. You're not like, uh, a fox, are you? Like, say, a Kitsune, or anything?" It would be nice if he could just eject thoughts out of his mouth like a normal person, but apparently that's not on today's menu.

None of those things are remotely mischievous.

( He arches an eyebrow, thoughtful as something occurs to him. )

Unless, of course, you use your position of power in order to hide your own capers. Cheeky, but not precisely mischievous. We all must start somewhere, of course.

As for the fox...

( He shrugs. )

I could be. Would that make you more comfortable? Kitsune does mean fox, after all.

"I've had enough fox-on-boy action for one lifetime, thanks," he grimaces when he realizes exactly how that sounds, but then his brain rewinds Loki's words for him and he realizes... "What do you mean you could be?" He squints a little, and suddenly the phone is steady. "What are you, exactly?" and more importantly, how likely was it that Stiles would find himself on the snack menu?

All the devices had been taken care of by now, so he was pretty sure everyone had stopped glitching, but it was probably better to double check.

He lets out a sigh and nods. "Okay, good. Past-tense bad is good... and not that I've noticed, but, uh. My attention span isn't exactly the most reliable thing."

My granther had a cookbook exactly like it. We've had a couple of those recipes at family dinners and holidays. I can confirm that yeah, it really is absolutely awful.
