Why hello there!

[Snow is, unsurprisingly, smiling. A glance around her says she's at the high school. A further glance shows that all of her animal friends, even Alarick, are all sitting outside the window, watching her.] I'm learning so many things at school, it's so exciting! But there is something I've heard of but I'm not sure what it means and people just look at me strange when I ask.

What is detention?

You see, I have it for the rest of the week and I'm just really not sure what to do for it. Everything else I've picked up on with some help or was told what it was... although, I'm still not sure what a "ditz" is either though or why people keep calling me that.

But would someone be so kind as to explain detention and what I do there? I just want to be prepared for it. I don't wish to upset the teacher by not being ready! Oh, that's so exciting to say! A teacher! A real teacher! I've never had a human one before coming here. I'm so excited to meet this new one!

Oh, that was a bit of a misunderstanding, I've found as well.

Oh yeah? Any chance you can talk to the teacher and clear it up? Some teachers are a bit better about that than others.

Oh, actually, Evie is speaking with him. I really just don't understand. I've never been to a school before.

[ Ah. That did explain a few things then. Which makes the other kids making fun of her even worse. ]

I wouldn't really worry about it, it's not your fault. Hopefully things can get cleared up pretty soon.

Well, it's just so strange, I'm not sure I understand what the point of detention is. Why would keeping me at school after school be a punishment?

Well, it's like a restriction of freedom, since being in detention keeps you from doing other things, like hanging with friends or going to clubs or whatever. So schools use detentions as a punishment in hopes that it'll be enough for students to keep them from causing trouble in the future.

Oh, then, that won't mean very much, I've made new friends! And I really wasn't trying to cause any trouble.

I'm still not even sure what I did.

Yeah, there are some people who don't think detention really works all that well anyway.

I wouldn't worry about it. If it was a misunderstanding, then it probably wasn't really anything that bad.

But I don't like to upset people, especially not my teachers.

Sometimes that can't be helped. Even if we do everything exactly right, there are some people that'll just take things the wrong way. All we can do is try to explain, and keep doing our best.

Oh, I'm very used to being hated just for existing. [That has literally been her life for her entire childhood up until that last few weeks.]

[ Oh geez. What can he even say to that? ]

I'm...sorry to hear that. You seem like a really nice person.

[ Then again, there were people out there who would hate exactly that. ]

Oh, thank you, I do try. I'm still not very sure why my stepmother wants me dead. I don't know what I did to upset her.

Still, I have made other friends!

You probably didn't do anything wrong. Some people are just like that, sadly.

It's good that you have other friends though.

Oh yes, my very first people friends were the dwarfs, but I had all sorts of animal friends. They were the very first friends I ever made!

But here I can make even more friends! Would you like to be my friend!

Animals are pretty cool.

[ He'd normally feel a bit weirded out, and maybe even a little suspicious about someone asking to be friends like this. But it was hard to not like this person. ]

Oh no, dear, animals are usually quite warm! Like bears! They give wonderfully warm hugs!

Oh, I'm so glad! I love making new friends.

...Oh, right. Okay.

[ That was probably the thing that made people call her a ditz, but he was getting the feeling that she just wasn't used to that kind of thing. Kind of like Noir; someone from a different time. ]

Yeah, it's great making new friends.

Something tells me you've never gotten a bear hug! [She's from the 1500s, Miles, give the poor girl a break on slang.]

It really is! It's one of my favorite things to do.

[ Yeah, he'll have to be more careful about what he says around her. ]

Not from an actual bear, no.

We shall have to see if we can fix that! They're very lovely hugs.

C- I mean, sounds great. That's definitely something I'm looking forward to.

[ Being so close to a bear might have been intimidating to him once before, but these days he's seen things that are way scarier. Besides, if she's around, then the bear probably wouldn't attack him. ]

First I have to find a bear, but that shouldn't be too hard! They have a zoo here!

Oh yeah, that's true. I should take a trip there sometime, I haven't seen it yet.

We could go together if you like? I can introduce you to every animal!
