My name is Alan Wake - if you have seen someone here before me who has said that he is Alan Wake, he is lying. That man is not human, he is a being of darkness made real in my image. It's a long story.

Do NOT trust him. He is dangerous. He has hurt people before and I don't doubt he'll do it again.

Sort of? It's more like Stephen King's The Dark Half if you're familiar with it. I wouldn't call the place Scratch was born "Hell."

An evil twin of sorts? Your twin? Did you create him?

Thankfully I can't take the credit. Another person trapped in The Dark Place before me created him. It was supposed to prevent a hole from existing in my reality where I used to be.

So we're not talking about some sort of robotic version of yourself either.

No. I don't think so? Hm. I can't say I have enough evidence to disprove that, actually.

I exorcised him once, for lack of a better word, using the light of a film projector though. A robot probably wouldn't de-materialize from that but I don't know if his form is different here.

You banished a demonic entity with a film projector?

It's a concentrated powerful light source so it was effective under the conditions of the reality I was in.

I can respect that.

Film can be a powerful medium.

[drowningman]

Yeah. It certainly can.

[Alan reflects on some of his early work writing for Night Springs. The fact that some of those scripts became reality despite being written prior to being in The Dark Place makes him think. Makes him worry a bit, considering the content of the show.]

Speaking from personal experience?

I grew up loving the cinema. It was a source of great comfort and influence to me. Later on, I worked in Hollywood for a time.

I was also working on a film just before I got here. We'd just wrapped up.

I can relate to that, but it was writing for me. Shame that you were pulled away from your work like that. I can imagine how that feels.

I was writing, directing. Doing the stunts and the effects. It was a labour of love.

[drowningman]

Wow, sounds like it if you were that involved. No market for cinema here? Or just a lack of resources?

[makeanentrance]

They're lacking a lot of resources, and talent.
